Lost in Space, the series 1965-68, IMDB
Nope, this isn’t gonna be a review or comment on either the old campy series or the 1998 movie Lost in Space though that phrase is often heard in my house followed by peals of laughter-it’s just hard not to burst out laughing at that cheesy line, but I digress.
No, what I want to make you aware of is Poison Prevention Week, March 15-22. Although it was originally created to raise awareness with parents with small children, vets are calling attention to the public for keeping pets safe as well. You’ve probably seen those toxic plant lists and you can view an infographic here to refresh your memory on common toxic substances. But what I want to share is far more insidious that more and more pet parents are engaging in because it’s thought of as “cute behavior.”

HONEY, DEARIE, LUV
Dear Service Providers: (aka doctors, nurses, receptionists, clerks, waiters, waitresses, etc.)
Unless you are my mother, grandmother, boyfriend, girlfriend, lover, spouse, or child, you should not be calling me or anyone else in a business situation “honey”.
The reason is that unless you are in one of the those relationshhips listed above and are entitled to use that term “honey”, you are using it in a derogatory manner. It sounds like you are talking to a child not another adult or even more importantly a client.
If I were to address any female employee by the term “honey” it maight be consider disrespectful if not “sexual harassment” in the work place.
Because someone is in a less powerful position than you, it does not give you the right to call them “honey”. That is, of course, unless your intent is to make yourself feel important.
In addition, the use of these terms is unprofessional.
Thank you for giving this your consideration, Dearie.

The Easiest Political Lie
When a politician says that people want…, you need to ask which people he is referring to.
Is he referring to all the people (which he is implying)?
Is he referring to the people in his district or state?
Is he referring to his campaign contributors (most likely)?
On what data is he basing his opinion (polls, letters, phone calls, emails)?
If he chooses to follow the people, how does he explain his votes which are contrary to non-partisan polls?
WHY ISN’T THE MEDIA ASKING THESE QUESTIONS?

Happy Amateur Imbibing Day
Saint Patrick is described as the patron saint of the Irish because he drove the snakes out of Ireland. He also used the shamrock to teach the Catholic church doctrine regarding the Holy Trinity.
Jump a couple of hundred years into the future, and the celebration has morphed into a bibulous consumption of green beer, wearing of green, kissing, and pinching.
Now I, myself, am not past having a couple of cold ones green or otherwise.
I do not, however, drink on St. Pat’s Day. Why? IT’S AMATEUR HOUR FOR DRINKERS!!! I also try to stay off the highways. Hopefully, you do the same.
