OF FORESTS AND TREES

My Latin teacher’s (yes, I am that old or wise) favorite saying was that you cannot see the trees for the forest or the forest for the trees.

My Democratic and Republican friends need to stop focusing on Trump’s actions as being related to the election.  His and Republican allies actions are not about policy foreign or domestic.  What is their motivation to not recognize the election of President elect Biden?  What is their motivation to not address Covid-19?  What is their motivation to turn their backs on the workers who need help getting through this crisis?  What is their motivation to not give a second stimulus package?

Steve Bannon, Senator Ted Cruz and the right have both said that their purpose was to limit and destroy the power of the federal government.  What has gone on during the Trump presidency has been devoted to this end.  Whether it was the failure of Republicans to vote President trump guilty of the crime of obstruction of justice in his impeachment, their failure to recognize and address Covid-19, ending treaties, and retreating from the climate accords; THE GOAL HAS BEEN TO LIMIT AND ULTIMATELY END/OR DESTROY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

Why?  How about a new government in which Republicans can win elections?  How about turning the country to an oligarchy?  But more likely the base motive is greed.  They like the Russian model of government; especially if they get to be the oligarchs.

It is time to look at the trees and forests.

Seniors, Vote Trump…

if you don’t need Medicare,

if you don’t need Social Security,

if you don’t care about your grand children,

if you don’t care about your children,

if you want to have your children to move in with you because they are unemployed,

if you can afford higher prescription prices,

if you haven’t seen food prices increasing,

if you want the same ineptitude dealing with Covid-19 in the future.

Light at the end of the tunnel?

If Trump doesn’t win the election, he will resign so that Pence can pardon him of any and all crimes committed during Trump’s Presidency. No doubt AG Barr will try to find some way to extend the pardon power to crimes committed before he was president and afterwards.

OPEN SCHOOLS?

First, remember that Trump says stuff cause it gets attention.

Second, Neither Trump nor the Republican party gives a fig about your children, you, your parents or your child’s teacher.

Third, Neither Trump nor the Republican party has a plan to open schools safely.

Fourth, Neither Trump nor the Republican party is willing to increase spending to open schools safely.

Fifth, every country that has been able to open schools safely has done so after Covid-19 was under control.

FINALLY, when they say they have a plan to open schools savely; remember that it has been three years and the Republicans still have not come up with a plan to replace the Affordable Care Act.

“WAG THE DOG”

TRUMP has two options left to achieve re-election.

  1. Republicans in the states steal the election through voter repression and gerrymandering,
  2. The President causes a “fake” war so that voters won’t “change horses mid-stream”.

I urge you rent the video by the title “Wag The Dog” to see how easily the second can be accomplished.
